The basic courses in the Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical – Electronics) programme were designed to provide students the essential background in engineering, which prepares them for the intermediate and advanced courses later on. In the intermediate courses, the students are taught important concepts in engineering, which enable them to understand the theory, apply mathematical and engineering tools, and to make critical analyses. In the advanced courses, the students are guided in designing and solving engineering problems.

Within the first three years of study, the curriculum for Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical – Electronics) programme is similar to the courses provided for Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical). Electrical engineering fundamental courses such as Introduction to Electrical Engineering, Electrical Circuit Analysis, Programming Techniques, Electronic Devices and Circuits, and Digital Electronics are taught and knowledge in mathematics is reinforced in the first year.

Electrical engineering core modules such as Signals and Systems, Electronic Instrumentation and Measurement, Electromagnetic Field Theory, Fundamental of Electrical Power Systems, Digital Systems, and Electronic Systems are emphasized in the second year. In the third year, specialized courses specifically for Electronic Engineering are taught, such as the courses on System Modelling and Analysis, Microprocessor, Communication Principle, Control System Design, and Digital Signal Processing.

The programme was designed so that the students can choose specific areas of specialisation. During the second semester of the third year, specialized courses specifically for Electronic Engineering are introduced. Students will be given options to choose their specialization in any one of the Electronic Engineering areas, namely, the Electronic System Design, Microelectronics, Medical Electronics, Telecommunication, or Computer Engineering. Based on the chosen field of specialization, the students will take two (2) compulsory courses that will equip them to the required fundamental knowledge for the respective field of option. In the final year, specialization in Electronic Engineering field is further strengthened. Students are required to select six (6) more courses in their chosen specialization to expand their knowledge.
