Ph.D.

The Ph.D. programme in Electrical Engineering is by research only. The minimum period of candidature is two years. However, the normal period of full-time study requires a duration of 3 years or six semesters. The Ph.D. candidate is supervised by a graduate faculty lecturer (or a panel of lecturers). In the case of panel supervision, co-supervisors may come from industry. The progress of a Ph.D. candidate is assessed through a research progress report submitted at the end of each semester. The degree is awarded based on a comprehensive examination (viva voce) of the doctoral thesis submitted by the candidate on completion of study.

M.Eng. (Electrical)

A full-time study in this programme requires a normal duration of 18 / 24 months (3 to 4 semesters). The minimum period of candidature is one year. An M.Eng. candidate is supervised by a lecturer from the “graduate faculty”. Assessment is by semester progress reports, and the degree is awarded based on a oral examination (viva voce) of the Masters thesis submitted by the student at end of study.
