A workshop on Capstone Project was held by all academic staff from the Department of Electrical Power Engineering (POWER) in their continuing efforts to improve the delivery of students’ laboratory projects in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FKE). Various themes of Capstone Projects were brainstormed by the academic staff in the two-day workshop held on 2-3 August 2016 at FKE. This is to ensure that the themes and designed problems for the Capstone Project are in line with the current industrial or community needs, and include the elements of project management tools and practices, organisational structures, engineering standards as well as the social and environmental responsibility of professional engineers.

The Capstone Project for POWER, codenamed SKEE 4722, is a final year student project that provides students with the opportunity to integrate technical knowledge and generic skills attained in their earlier years of undergraduate study. This is to be achieved within the context of an engineering project conducted in a small team (typically three or four students) under the supervision of an academic staff and with an optional industry partner, as an advisor. More information about the Capstone Project can be found here.
