Student Participation in Young Scholar Programme

Mr. Nur Faizal Kasri, a PhD student under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohamed Afendi Mohamed Piah from the Institute of High Voltage and High Current, has been selected to participate in the Young Scholar Programme (YSP) organised by the Leadership of Higher Education Academy (Akademi Kepimpinan Pendidikan Tinggi, AKEPT). The YSP programme aimed to cultivate skills pertaining to future academics especially amongst research students across various Malaysian higher education institutions. The year-long programme consisted of 5 phases which included intensive training in writing, presentation, communication and leadership, visits to Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) universities, and mentor job shadowing with Young Scientist Network (YSN)’s members. Mr. Nur Faizal successfully completed the programme on 19 July 2017 and gave a TED Talk regarding his PhD project in front of of the AKEPT director, lecturers, participants and the layman.
