SpeEd Robotics Workshop 2020
SpeEd is refer to Special Education Students. On 24th February 2020 (Monday, 8.00 am-5.00 pm), we had conducted a Robotics Workshop to enhance the knowledges and skills of disability students from SK Taman Tun Aminah (Program Pendidikan Khas Integrasi). In the morning session, students learn how to program Tuah Robot for Line and Light following activities.
The first task is Line Following activity. It is one of the most important aspects of robotics. A line following Tuah Robot is an autonomous robot which is able to follow either a black or white line that is drawn on the surface consisting of a contrasting color. It is designed to move automatically and follow the made plot line. The robot uses several sensors to identify the line thus assisting the robot to stay on the track.
The light following robot is a mobile machine which is capable of detecting and following the light source on the traveling path. The concept of this light following robot is very simple. It includes two photodiodes, one on the right and other on the left. When the light falls on the right photodiode, the robot will move on the right side. Similarly, the robot will move on the left side when the light falls on the left photodiode.
Another tasks is programming the Tuah Robot with a gripper. A gripper is a device which enables the holding of an object to be manipulated. The easier way to describe a gripper is to think of the human hand. Just like a hand, a gripper enables holding, tightening, handling and releasing of an object.
During evening session, there is a mini robot competition among the students based on what they have learnt in the morning session. We would to say thank you for teachers and students from SK Taman Tun Aminah for successfully attending this workshop and we hope that all students have fun learning STEM-RBTK in UTM.
