Rehabilitation Technology (MEER)

The Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) at FKE is a research-based postgraduate program tailored for individuals with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent field. Designed as a multi-disciplinary program, it aims to enhance participants’ abilities in advanced research, analytical thinking, and academic presentation. The program prepares candidates to contribute new insights or augment existing knowledge in their area of specialization through a research thesis. The degree is conferred upon successful completion of a research thesis and a comprehensive oral defense (viva voce). Prospective students are encouraged to strengthen their foundational knowledge and broaden their understanding across relevant disciplines to ensure they can carry out high-quality, impactful research.

Intake March/October* every year

  • Application for February* intake is open from September to November (for international student) and from September to December (for local student).
  • Application for October* intake is open from March to June (for international student) and from March to July (for local student).

Graduates of this program are well-positioned for premium employment opportunities in sectors such as rehabilitation. With their specialized research skills and technical expertise, they are highly sought after for roles in R&D divisions.

Program Learning Outcome (PLO)

At the end of this programme, graduates from this program are expected to have the
following outcomes:

PLO 1: Integrate and generate in-depth relevant knowledge independently dan using innovative techniques, tools and skills for decision-making to manage basis and resolve a complex problem in the field of Rehabilitation Technology as a for research.

PLO 2: Construct a critical and innovative solution for complex problems or issues in the field of Rehabilitation Technology through research using the latest development
techniques and skills.

PLO 3: Devise standard research methodology that are based on the forefront knowledge and latest development in the field of Rehabilitation Technology to solve research
problems with reasonable degree of originality.

PLO 4: Demonstrate effective collaboration with peers, scholarly communities and society at large in the relevant field of expertise and research.

PLO 5: Communicate the knowledge, skills, ideas clearly using appropriate methods to peers, experts, and non-experts through various medium.

PLO 6: Use a broad range of suitable digital technologies, media, and software to design, manage, analyse and report research studies.

PLO 7: Demonstrate skills in designing, planning evaluation activities, and analysing numerical and graphical data using quantitative or qualitative tools in solving
problems.

Entry Requirement*

The admission requirements for students entering the Taught Course program are as follows:

i Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or its equivalent recognized by the University Senate (accredited program by the EAC body) with a CGPA ≥ 2.50 / 4.00 or CGPA < 2.50 / 4.00 with a minimum of 5 years of work experience in the relevant field; or
ii Bachelor’s degree in Engineering other than Electrical Engineering (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Civil Engineering, etc.) or its equivalent with a minimum CGPA ≥ 3.00 / 4.00 and 2 years of work experience in the field of electrical engineering; or
iii Bachelor’s degree in Science (Physics) or its equivalent with a minimum CGPA ≥ 3.00 / 4.00; or

Bachelor’s degree in Science (Computer Science, Software, Information Technology) or its equivalent with a minimum CGPA ≥ 3.00 / 4.00 and 2 years of work experience in the field of electrical engineering; or

v

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology (specifically in the field of electrical engineering) or its equivalent with a minimum CGPA ≥ 3.00 / 4.00; or

vi

Other qualifications approved by the Faculty’s Academic Committee.

Candidates who meet the requirements of  (ii – vi) are required to take and pass the prerequisite courses determined by the Faculty with a minimum grade of (B-).
