ABSTRACT
Integrating artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) with advancements in point cloud processing has significantly enhanced digital twin creation for telco tower infrastructure. This keynote details an innovative methodology utilizing drone-captured data and AI/ML algorithms to achieve high precision in component detection, defect identification, spatial optimization, equipment audit, and integration with ERP systems like Tarantula Red Cube. Drones with high-resolution cameras and automated flight capabilities capture detailed aerial data, generating point cloud datasets via photogrammetry. AI/ML models process these datasets to identify and classify components through deep learning, leveraging neural networks and edge computing for preprocessing to improve detection accuracy and efficiency. Cloud-based parallel processing on platforms such as AWS or Azure is essential for rapid, scalable handling of large datasets. These platforms facilitate real-time analysis and updates, significantly reducing computation times and enabling efficient data management. The digital twin provides an accurate 3D model enriched with functional data. AI models detect structural defects and optimize spatial configurations, enhancing asset management and planning. Detailed equipment audits ensure compliance with standards, improving inventory management and maintenance scheduling. IoT sensors, including single accelerometers, offer continuous structural integrity assessment, delivering real-time data on the tower’s condition. Antenna signal strength and plume analysis offer a comprehensive view of operational performance, optimizing signal coverage and capacity. Integration with ERP systems like Tarantula Red Cube enables real-time updates, efficient resource allocation, and comprehensive data management. This innovative approach reduces tower audit time from 2-5 days to under 1 hour, enabling digital transformation as a service for telco infrastructure owners. Case studies will demonstrate improvements in operational efficiency, maintenance precision, and cost savings, highlighting the transformative potential of AI/ML and point cloud technology in telecom infrastructure management.
