Download the <strong>Ubuntu ISO<\/strong>\u00a0file from the link<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/releases.ubuntu.com\/16.04\/\">Ubuntu 16.04.6 LTS (Xenial Xerus)<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Choose a desktop image, not a server<\/li>\n<li>Choose according to the bits of your computer\u2019s processor<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>2.\u00a0Download the executable\u00a0<strong>Rufus<\/strong>\u00a0to create bootable Live USB drives for Ubuntu<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/rufus.ie\/en_IE.html\">https:\/\/rufus.ie\/en_IE.html<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Under the <strong>Download<\/strong>\u00a0section on the webpage, choose the first option (i.e. Rufus 3.8)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>3. Create a bootable Ubuntu USB drive<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Insert an empty USB pendrive into your computer, USB 3.0 recommended.<\/li>\n<li>Run the downloaded Rufus<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1626 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/fke.utm.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2021\/10\/MokXiuYan-InstallingUbuntu16.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"247\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fke.utm.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2021\/10\/MokXiuYan-InstallingUbuntu16.png 500w, https:\/\/fke.utm.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2021\/10\/MokXiuYan-InstallingUbuntu16-480x237.png 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 500px, 100vw\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For the <strong>Device<\/strong> option, choose the USB drive inserted.<\/li>\n<li>For the <strong>Boot selection<\/strong>\u00a0option, click\u00a0<strong>\u2018SELECT\u2019<\/strong>\u00a0and choose the downloaded\u00a0<strong>Ubuntu ISO\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>file (i.e. ubuntu-16.04.6-desktop-amd64)<\/li>\n<li>Press\u00a0<strong>START<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>This window will pop out, click ok<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1626 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/fke.utm.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2021\/10\/MokXiuYan-InstallingUbuntu16.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"478\" height=\"236\" \/><\/p>\n<p>**<strong>Don\u2019t remove the USB drive yet<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>4. Shrink some volume from your hard disk for installation of Ubuntu (for Windows)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>search Disk Management<\/li>\n<li>Right-click the volume that you want to shrink( it means that you will reduce the volume of the disk, for example, OS(C:)<\/li>\n<li>Click\u00a0<strong>Shrink Volume<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1630 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/fke.utm.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2021\/10\/MokXiuYan-InstallingUbuntu1604_3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"482\" height=\"379\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fke.utm.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2021\/10\/MokXiuYan-InstallingUbuntu1604_3.png 482w, https:\/\/fke.utm.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2021\/10\/MokXiuYan-InstallingUbuntu1604_3-480x378.png 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 482px, 100vw\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Enter the volume that you want to shrink ( 1GB = 1024 MB), at least 25GB<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1632 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/fke.utm.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2021\/10\/MokXiuYan-InstallingUbuntu1604_4.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"477\" height=\"324\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Click\u00a0<strong>Shrink<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Following steps might vary since the different laptop has different interface and settings. Try to search on Google or Youtube.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>It was applied on Asus Windows 10.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>5. Disable\u00a0<strong>fast startup<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0\u00a0<strong>secure boot<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To disable\u00a0<strong>Fast Startup<\/strong>, press the Windows Key + R to bring up the Run dialog, type \u201cpowercfg.cpl\u201d and hit Enter. The Power Options window should appear. Click &#8220;Choose what the power buttons do&#8221; from the column on the left.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1634 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/fke.utm.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2021\/10\/MokXiuYan-InstallingUbuntu1604_5.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"766\" height=\"243\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Scroll down to &#8220;Shutdown settings&#8221; and uncheck the box for &#8220;Turn on fast startup\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Note: If these options are greyed out then you may need to click &#8220;Change settings that are currently unavailable&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1636 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/fke.utm.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2021\/10\/MokXiuYan-InstallingUbuntu1604_6.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"599\" height=\"315\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Click the &#8220;Save changes&#8221; button to apply the changes<\/li>\n<li>Before jumping to disable\u00a0<strong>Secure Boot,\u00a0<\/strong>let\u2019s find out if your PC has Secure Boot.<\/li>\n<li>Open Windows Defender Security Center, and click on Device Security.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1638 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/fke.utm.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2021\/10\/MokXiuYan-InstallingUbuntu1604_7.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"469\" height=\"369\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assumed secure boot is available and turned on, now can disable it.<\/li>\n<li>Hold \u201c<strong>Shift<\/strong>\u201d and click\u00a0<strong>Restart<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Choose &#8220;<strong>Troubleshoot<\/strong>&#8221;
